Canada Place Wins National Award for Best Public Entertainment Event

March 29, 2010 - Vancouver, BC – Canada Place won the Canadian Event Industry’s National Star Award for Best Public Entertainment Event. The award was announced Friday, March 26 at the 2010 Star Awards Gala in Toronto, ON. As Canada’s national icon on the West Coast, Canada Place hosted over 675,000 people for the marquee national celebration complete with street festival, parade and fireworks on Canada Day 2009.

July 1st 2009, Canada Place Corporation presented its largest Canada Day event to date and welcomed 175,000 guests to Canada Place and its surrounding streets for a one of a kind street festival. The daytime celebration was followed by the inaugural Canada Day Parade, enjoyed by 100,000 spectators, and the two-barge Burrard Inlet Fireworks Show viewed by over 400,000 spectators. The free daytime street festival encompassed six city blocks and neighbouring Harbour Green Park and featured non-stop Canadian entertainment. Canada Day at Canada Place is made possible by the support of our partners including the Department of Canadian Heritage, the Celebrate Canada Committee for British Columbia, the Department of National Defense and the City of Vancouver.
